Music has been a significant part of my life since I started playing the trumpet in the third grade at the Joseph Pennell Elementary School. The legacy of my music goes back to my roots; my father was a jazz guitarist, my mother was a flutist, and my grandfather was a guitarist. As a child, I practiced diligently and by the time I was 12, I was offered a scholarship at the Jenkintown Music School. In the same year I began playing with my first local band - the Soul Sonics. During high school, I played with various other local groups and musicians such as Black Gold and Sundown. Many of these groups hosted the finest musicians in the area. Most noteworthy are, Billy “Shoes” Johnson, Kevin Eubanks of the “Tonight Show” and Robin Eubanks, educator/performer/composer.

My musical influences in those days were very much the music of the Sixties, Seventies, and Eighties-- Motown, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores, Jackson Five, (not forgetting Michael and Janet!) and Marvin Gaye. However, I can still enjoy listening to the music of Mozart, Beethoven, and Mahler to name a few, and be just as comfortable. In 1975, I was offered a scholarship from Temple University. While studying there with Seymour Rosenfeld (of the Philadelphia Orchestra), I continued to perform in the area playing jazz, R & B, and cover music.

My career took a turn for the better when I opened a jazz show in 1980 for noted jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard. I later gained noteworthiness touring with famous acts such as the Stylistics, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes as I went through college. I was listed as one of the Most Outstanding Men of America in 1984 and shortly afterward, did a short stint (very short!) with the Village People, before joining Johnny O’s Classic Dogs of Love in 1986. This group disbanded in 1995 to pursue personal musical interests.

Along with a few others, I began a group in 1990 named The Coup (pronounced. Coo) We performed at various venues in and around the New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore areas.  My first compact disc – From the Inside Out – was recorded in 2000. Currently I serve as an educator in the Philadelphia School District.

My professional music career has taken me around the US and across the globe to such places as France, Germany, Greece, and England. My music style is a synthesis of cool jazz, mixed with modern rock and pop, flavored with hip-hop; a unique fusion of  musical influences and today’s modern trend.

Well enough about me and my website in 2005. Stay tuned!...I’m not finished yet!—there’s more to come! Thanks for visiting my site!
